Tronic Joins The Elite With Its Third ISO Accreditation

Posted: 11 July 2005

Tronic Ltd, the market leading supplier of subsea electrical and optical connectors and subsidiary of oilfield services provider Expro International Group PLC, is celebrating a hat trick of accreditations.

Tronic now has the Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental Management Standards of ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 and, according to ISO, Tronic is one of only 1.5% of companies in the world to achieve registration of all three management systems.

The Ulverston based company achieved the Quality Management Standard ISO 9001 back in 1995. Initially prompted by its clients to target 100% product reliability, Tronic developed a first class quality management system, to consistently provide subsea products that met customer requirements all of the time.

Obtaining this first standard gave Tronic the motivation to achieve other management standards and, in 2004, it was awarded OHSAS 18001. This is an international occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system which is compatible with ISO 9001 in the requirements of the standard. It enables Tronic to proactively control its OH&S risks and further improve on its performance.

ISO 14001 is the most recent management system which Tronic has attained and applies to all environmental aspects of the business. Effective management, leading to reduction of the company’s waste streams and energy consumption, is considered to be of very high importance.

Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) manager of Tronic, John Hannah, said: “Tronic has been on a mission to achieve all three management systems for the last 10 years. We are particularly delighted that our efforts to develop internal management systems have placed the company in a position achieved by only 1.5% of companies worldwide. It is a remarkable statistic and shows that we are committed to exceeding our clients’ expectations. Integration of all three standards to work as one is the next major challenge.”

Business Manager Colin MacKenzie concluded: “Our international clients place great importance on development of systems which aid the provision of quality products. It is a key priority for Tronic to continually improve our management systems. ”
