The large Saudi Aramco stand was among the most popular attractions at the second annual Saudi Days Festival in London on July 13-17. The event was thronged by 30,000 visitors over its four days.
The festival - the first one was held last year in London - graced Manchester 's Heaton Park , one of Europe 's largest, drawing visitors of all ages and nationalities. The festival's many booths allowed visitors to enjoy Saudi hospitality, to be introduced to Saudi Arabia and its unique culture, and to learn about its world-leading oil industry.
The Saudi Embassies of England and Ireland and Saudi Aramco sponsored the festival, which was inaugurated by Lord Mohammed Azal Khan, the mayor of Manchester, and the Saudi ambassador to the United Kingdom, Pr ince Turki ibn Faisal ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz. One notable visitor was Pr ince Saud ibn Naif ibn 'Abd Al-'Aziz, the Saudi ambassador to Spain .
Visitors were introduced to Saudi traditional handicrafts, food, clothing and perfume, and the wide diversity of the Kingdom's natural environment.
A falconer was on hand to demonstrate the ancient art of training falcons for hunting, Saudi dance and music troupes performed, and a mock wedding ceremony showed some of the Kingdom's cultural traditions.
A daily quiz show for children was conducted, with three winners each day. The quiz questions were related to Saudi Arabia and Saudi Aramco. More than 3,000 students from 60 schools in the Manchester area took part.
