Whirlwind schedule swept Saudi Aramco president and chief executive officer Abdallah S. Jum'ah through the Chinese capital last week, after the July 8 inauguration of Aramco Overseas Co.'s (AOC) Fujian province oil/petro-chemicals joint venture with Fujian Petrochemical Co. Ltd. and ExxonMobil China Petrochemical Co. Ltd.

In Beijing , Jum'ah addressed Chinese oil-industry leaders on July 11 at the Peninsula Palace Hotel. The event, jointly sponsored by the Beijing-based AOC and Saudi Petroleum Ltd. (SPL) offices, underscored Saudi Aramco's continuing major commitment to the Chinese market.

Later, Jum'ah visited the AOC and SPL offices.

The president and CEO also met with nine Saudi students who are the first graduates of Chinese universities in the company's College Degree Pr ogram for Non-Employees (CDPNE) system.

Students also are studying at universities in other Asian countries that are major and emerging petroleum markets, including Japan and Korea

The CDPNE students in Asia demonstrate the long-term importance Saudi Aramco places on the company's growing relationship with the region's markets.

During his visit to Beijing , Jum'ah also met privately with executives of top Chinese petroleum companies and other entities.
