Global well construction, performance and management expert, The Peak Group, has enhanced its international expansion with the appointments of two key personnel.
Clarke Denney, previously from Dong A/S in Denmark, joins The Peak Group as operations manager for the Houston office and will oversee the planning and execution of the growing well management business in the USA. He will lead the engineering team and play a key role in recruitment. His appointment brings the number of people working in the expanding Houston office, which opened two and a half years ago, to six.
Clarke started his career in 1981 as a reservoir engineer working for Phillips Petroleum in the USA and travelled extensively throughout Europe and the Americas during his 19 years with the company. By the time Clarke left Phillips, he was the senior drilling engineering specialist assigned to a critical well team in Venezuela. From Phillips, Clarke worked for Carrizo Oil and Gas as the general drilling manager for two years and then onto El Paso Production as the senior drilling consultant where he was designing, planning and drilling HPHT wells in the Gulf of Mexico.
Nick Muecke, previously from OMV Australia Pty Ltd, joins The Peak Group as the Asia Pacific operations manager and company director, and will be based in the Perth office ( Australia). He will be responsible for all Peak’s work in the Asia Pacific region, covering well construction and engineering, consultancy services, and the application of performance management systems for well construction operations.
Nick joined BHP Billiton in 1979 as a cadet engineer and then joined Delhi Petroleum in 1984 where he worked predominantly as a drilling engineer in Australia’s Cooper Basin. He moved to Shell in 1990 for five years and worked in Australia, the Netherlands and Egypt in a variety of well engineering roles covering both offshore and onshore well construction operations management and training and development. In 1999, while working as the senior engineer for Apache Energy ( Australia) on the extended reach Stag Field, Nick was instrumental in setting up and managing the Apache Well Engineering Team.
Nick moved to OMV Australia / New Zealand in 2003 where he held roles of Engineering Superintendent and Drilling Manager. He was involved in all aspects of the planning and execution of OMV’s well construction activities covering exploration, development and work-over projects in Australia’s Bass Strait, Timor Sea and North West Shelf and New Zealand’s Taranaki Basin.
Managing director of The Peak Group, Andrew Paterson, said: “Nick and Clarke are both highly experienced individuals and bring a wealth of knowledge to Peak. Their stature and expertise in the international drilling management community will complement our current team and will help to grow our business. Our offices in Houston and Perth are rapidly expanding and it is an exciting time for us all.”
