Nippon Oil Exploration Limited opened its office in Tripoli, the capital city of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya on September 1, 2005.
Nippon Oil Group is aiming to expand its upstream operations and has been conducting exploration, development and production activities around the world. It is keen to expand its upstream operations in Libya , where one of the world's largest oil and gas reserves are found, and has established the office to gather information in order to boost its activities there.
