From keel to launch in seven months

Maritime Industrial Services (MIS) has launched a new-build floating storage and offloading vessel from its recently expanded yard within Port Khalid, Sharjah , United Arab Emirates .
The vessel is for the Caspian Sea , where she will commence operations on the Petronas Carigali ( Turkmenistan ) project.
SBM commissioned the design of the vessel and awarded MIS the construction in November last year. MIS completed the project from laying the keel in February to launch in a seven-month period.
The vessel is 116 metres long with a depth of 9.8 metres and is 5000 gross tons. The vessel is classed by ABS to the society rating of plusA1. The FSO is outfitted with a turret attached to the fore end of the vessel, which moors the vessel via a chain table to six sea-bed anchors and provides a 360-degree rotation.
MIS has a 25-year history in services to the oil and gas industry from its facilities in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait . Core business includes pressure vessel and process module fabrication, engineering, procurement and site construction work, rig refurbishment, new-build construction, and H2S safety services.
