Contracted for Sharq

Sabic affiliate, Eastern Petrochemical (Sharq), has entered into a contract with Samsung Engineering for the engineering, supply and construction of an ethylene glycol plant with an annual production capacity of 700,000 tonnes. This forms part of Sharq's third expansion project at Jubail Industrial City in Saudi Arabia . Completion of the project is expected by 2008. Sharq is the world's largest single ethylene glycol manufacturing complex.

Eastern Petrochemical has also signed a letter of intent to award contracts to Foster Wheeler to construct utility offsite facilities within its expansion project III. It covers engineering, procurement and construction of the plants which will be erected at the Sharq complex to be completed by Q1 2008.
