Posted: 22 March 2003
The Middle East operations of Oracle Corporation, the world's largest
enterprise software company, confirmed today that it continues to
build momentum as commercial businesses and public services choose
Oracle software and services to help lower information technology
(IT) costs and achieve new levels of efficiency.
Increasingly, businesses are purchasing or upgrading to the Oracle
E-Business Suite 11i, Oracle9i Database, Oracle9i Application Server
and Oracle Collaboration Suite to realize the benefits associated
with a single data model that stores information across a full range
of integrated applications.
Husam Dajani VP Oracle Middle East, said: “We are committed
to provide our customers with uninterrupted services to ensure that
their mission critical applications are well supported. Oracle consulting
continues to engage customers and deliver on committed process despite
the political situation Oracle remains the key technology partner
for Middle East enterprises, from industry sectors such as telecommunications
and education to transportation, agriculture, real estate and banking,
as demonstrated by our impressive list of new wins and implementations
over the last quarter,” Middle East customers who purchased
or went live with implementations of Oracle's Applications during
Oracle's third quarter include: Batelco, Sokna Port, Saudi Arabia’s
National Development Company (Nadec), Egyptian American Bank, and
Qatar’s Faisal Bin Qassim Al- Thani and Sons Holding Company.
“Service is proving to be a key differentiator in the region's
increasingly competitive telecoms sector, and Batelco's CRM initiative
is targeted at achieving a more integrated approach toward serving
our customers through a multitude of channels." Said Ibrahim
Zainal, Batlco's Head of IT.
A significant majority of businesses in the Middle East are also
deploying the Oracle technology platform, including the world's
leading database - Oracle9i Database – as well as the Oracle9i
Application Server and Oracle development tools.
Customers in the region who purchased or implemented aspects of
the Oracle technology platform during Q3 include: Kuwait’s
National Real Estate Corporation (NREC), Egypt’s Ministry
of Education, Kuwait University, and Libancell.
“LibanCell's STRETCH initiative is the first of its kind
in the Middle East based on both the diversity of ways that users
can access the portal as well as the incredibly broad range of content
and features that are available. We selected Oracle9iAS Wireless
as the software platform for STRETCH based on its complete and integrated
approach to building mobile applications," commented Mr. Zaher
Soubra Development Unit and Portal Project Manager of LibanCell.
"Oracle integrated easily with our existing infrastructure,
and gave us the flexibility to grow quickly and painlessly as more
users embrace the STRETCH portal and all that it offers," he
continued.
Oracle E-Business Suite
The Oracle E-Business Suite is a complete set of business applications
that enable companies to efficiently manage all core business functions,
such as customer interactions, financial management, human resources,
and supply chain management. A primary reason customer selected
the Oracle E-Business Suite is Oracle's open architecture, which
allows applications to be deployed as individual modules, business
flows or an entire integrated suite.
Oracle 9i Database, Oralce9i Application Server and Oracle
Collaboration Suite
Oracle's information management software products include the world's
leading database - Oracle9i Database - Oracle9i Application Server,
and Oracle Collaboration Suite. Because e-business Web sites, as
well as transactional and decision support applications require
both a database and an application server, Oracle9i Database and
Oracle9i Application Server are an ideal choice for companies that
want the performance and cost saving benefits of a complete and
integrated infrastructure. Oracle9i Database and Oracle9i Application
Server enable companies around the world to run mission-critical
