Middle
East Petroleum and Gas Conference re-scheduled
Posted: 31 March 2003
The Emirates National Oil Company Ltd (ENOC) LLC and The Conference
Connection Inc have now decided that the 11th Annual Middle East
Petroleum and Gas Conference, planned for April 13-15, will be re-scheduled.
The proposed dates for the conference are now either the week of
September 7 or October 5, 2003.
Two other events being held the same week, Middle East Gas and
LNG Forum (MEgas) and Outlook for East of Suez Lubricants and Base
Oils Conference, will also be rescheduled to follow the new dates
for MPGC.
Mr. Hussain Sultan, ENOC’s Group CEO and Board Member, who
will co-chair the meeting, said “The UAE prides itself as
providing a safe economic and social environment. The conflict in
Iraq does not change that. The current situation, however, makes
it extremely difficult for governments and industry experts to provide
any meaningful discussions or forecasts on an industry in such a
state of flux. The re-scheduling of MPGC 2003 to its later date
will be more appropriate and will ensure that it is the most up-to-date
industry forum and still the Middle East’s premier oil industry
event”
This decision to re-schedule MPGC 2003 was taken with due consideration
to the situation in Iraq weighing heavily on the attendance and
ease of travel for speakers and participants.
The current conflict also makes it a difficult environment to clarify
key issues that are critical for discussion of oil industry fundamentals.
Dr Fereidun Fesharaki, President of FACTS Inc, who will also co-chair
the event said “The oil markets are facing their greatest
uncertainty in more than a decade. To understand the trends and
developments in this very confusing environment is a major challenge.
MPGC’s objective is to provide a forum for open and frank
discussion and understanding of these issues in the heart of the
oil business: the Middle East. The re -scheduling of MPGC to the
later part of the year will allow experts from around the world,
time to make a clear assessment of the oil market development and
the possible opportunities ahead.”
A final decision on the dates as specified above and other details
will be made and communicated by Friday April 4 2003.
