McGill nominated to succeed retiring ExxonMobil Production Company President Terry Kooncen

IRVING, Texas — Exxon Mobil Corporation
(NYSE:XOM) today announced the retirement of ExxonMobil Production
Company President Dr. Terry Koonce and the nomination of Dr. Stuart
McGill, currently president of ExxonMobil Gas and Power Marketing
Company, to succeed Dr. Koonce.
ExxonMobil Production Company is headquartered in Houston, Texas,
and is responsible for ExxonMobil's worldwide oil and gas production
activities.
It is anticipated the board of directors will elect Dr. McGill
to his new position, with an effective date of July 1, 2003. Dr.
Koonce will retire from the company June 30, 2003, after more than
41 years of service.
ExxonMobil further anticipates that the board of directors will
elect Philip Dingle as president, ExxonMobil Gas and Power Marketing
Company, effective July 1, 2003, succeeding Dr. McGill. Mr. Dingle,
a native of Canada, is currently president, ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia
(Southern Ghawar) Limited.
A native of Australia, Dr. McGill holds a bachelor's degree and
a doctorate in chemical engineering from Sydney University.
Dr. McGill joined Esso Australia Ltd. in 1969 as an engineer in
their Production Department and held various engineering and management
assignments in their offices in Melbourne, Longford and Long Island
Point, as well as assignments with Exxon Company, U.S.A. and Exxon
Production Research in Houston, Texas.
In 1980 he became managing director of Esso Production Malaysia
Inc. in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In 1983 he was named director of Esso Australia Ltd. and, in 1985,
was appointed chairman and managing director. In 1988, he returned
to the United States as vice president of Exxon Company, International.
During this assignment, he was appointed to a special eight-month
assignment as executive assistant to the chairman and chief executive
officer of Exxon Corporation in New York.
In 1991 he transferred to the Benelux where he was appointed chief
executive officer of Esso Holding Company Holland Inc. and of Esso
B.V.
He returned to the United States in July 1994 as executive vice
president of Exxon Company, International with responsibility for
Exxon's oil and gas activities outside the United States and Canada.
In January 1998 he was named president of Exxon Company, International.
Subsequent to the ExxonMobil merger, he was appointed to his current
position in December 1999.
A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, Dr. Koonce joined the Exxon
organization in 1963 upon completion of his Ph.D. degree in chemical
engineering at Rice University in Houston, where he also had received
the bachelor's degree in 1960. Dr. Koonce spent several years with
Exxon Production Research Company and held a variety of management
assignments both there and in the Production Department of Exxon
Company, U.S.A.
In April 1985 Dr. Koonce was named president and chief executive
officer of Esso Resources Canada Limited.
He was appointed a director of Imperial Oil Limited in July 1986.
In February 1988 Dr. Koonce was named senior vice president and
a member of the Management Committee of Exxon Company, U.S.A.
He was named president and chief executive officer of Exxon Research
and Engineering Company in January 1990. He was appointed president
and chief executive officer of Exxon Ventures (CIS) Inc., headquartered
in Moscow, Russia, and Houston, Texas, in October 1993.
Dr. Koonce assumed his current position in December 1999
with the merger of Exxon and Mobil. A native of Alberta, Canada,
Mr. Dingle received his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering
from the University of Calgary in 1970.
Upon graduation, he joined Imperial Oil Limited, an ExxonMobil
affiliate, where he held various engineering and management assignments
in Drilling and Production. He was appointed engineering manager
of Esso Production Malaysia Inc. (EPMI) in 1981.
In 1984 he became the offshore division manager overseeing EPMI's
oil and gas producing operations.
In 1987 Mr. Dingle returned to Imperial Oil Limited as vice president
- Corporate Planning and later became vice president - Exploration
and Production. In January 1993 he was named managing director,
Esso Exploration and Production U.K.
In 1995 he became chairman and CEO of Esso companies in Malaysia.
Mr. Dingle was appointed to his current position on June 3, 2001,
following the Saudi Arabian Government's announcement of ExxonMobil
as the leader and operator for Core Venture 1 in the Saudi Arabian
Gas Initiative.
