Egyptian American Bank keeps ahead with Oracle

Posted: 2 April 2003

Leading Bank uses Business Intelligence and a Data Warehouse to Fully Understand its Customers

Cairo, Egypt — Oracle Corporation, the world’s largest enterprise software company, today announced that Egyptian American Bank (EAB), one of the largest private banks in Egypt, is using Oracle technology at the heart of its ground-breaking business intelligence initiative, designed to generate greater understanding of its customers and markets.

In the highly competitive banking sector, many organizations are working hard to better appreciate customers’ behaviors, spending patterns and needs, so that they can provide a higher standard of service and place greater emphasis on the most profitable customer segments and product groups.

In order to achieve this, EAB decided to deploy a business intelligence and data warehouse system that could provide its senior management with detailed, accurate and up-to-the-minute information about its customers.

“We needed a system that would enable us to collect and analyze all data around our customers’ behaviors and needs,” said Malcolm Neil, Chief Information Officer, EAB. “The ultimate objective of developing our whole infrastructure is to understand where good business comes from, and encourage more of it.”

EAB required world-class technology to support this customer-centered approach to business intelligence. After a thorough review, it elected to install a range of Oracle solutions, including Oracle Financial Services Application (OFSA), which provides it with the capacity to analyze key information across multiple combinations of dimensions.

“Oracle Financial Services Application provids the backbone for a number of customer relationship management and account level profitability solutions in the financial sector. It offers in-depth analysis, reporting, ledger integration and financial modeling functions,” commented Atef Helmy, Managing Director for Oracle Egypt. “The Egyptian American Bank as a major player in the Egyptian banking sector is undoubtedly going to stay ahead of its competitors thanks to this ambitious and far-sighted project.”

As well as OFSA, the Egyptian American Bank’s initiative took full advantage of Oracle products, including Oracle9i Developer Suite, Oracle Database and Oracle integration capabilities to provide the bank with a robust, scalable and secure system.

In addition, the models from the Oracle Customer Relationship Management were deployed to support the bank’s call center, tele-service and online marketing functions.

The fully-integrated, end-to-end customer focused business intelligence solution for the bank, provides senior management with comprehensive information about its customer segment profitability and behavior enabling the bank to segment its service levels and offerings in order to ensure the right amount of resources are allocated to support the needs of premium customer groups.

“Our focus is always about providing high quality customer service through highly-trained, passionate employees and technologically-advanced operations. Using Oracle technology has helped us take another step down the path of providing the highest standards of customer service anywhere in Egypt,” says Neill.
