partners Dubai Civil Defense in voluntary first aid responder scheme

Major community project aims to enhance first aid response
across Dubai
Emarat has announced its support of a major community initiative
launched by Dubai Civil Defense to enhance and streamline first
aid response across Dubai. The project called “Voluntary First
Aid Responder Scheme” aims to deploy a number of first aid
volunteers around Dubai to respond individually or in groups to
casualties, accidents or emergencies.
The scheme begun, on 15th April, will continue through the year.
Next year, it will be extended to the other emirates. This initiative
will play a major role in raising health awareness amongst the community.
“We are proud to be supporting Dubai Civil Defense in this
programme that seeks to contribute to the well being of the community,”
said Rashid Al Shamsi, General Manager, Emarat at the announcement.
“In its constant drive to improve safety and protect the health
of residents, the Voluntary First Aid Responder Scheme is yet another
unique and highly beneficial programme from Dubai Civil Defense.”
The Voluntary First Aid Responder Scheme will train volunteers
in various first aid categories to ensure a prompt and efficient
response to emergencies across Dubai.
The scheme hopes to attract over 300 volunteers in Dubai by the
end of the year from several sectors including banks, educational
institutions, as well government and private establishments. In
fact, Dubai Civil Defense will be training 10 staff members from
Emarat as part of the scheme.
As part of its corporate policy, health and safety is a major priority
at Emarat and examines every aspect of its operations to ensure
that top safety and environment health levels are maintained at
any given time.
On the community front, Emarat has continually lent its support
to programmes that seek to enhance the lifestyle of UAE residents
on the environment, health and other social causes including promoting
a “Road Safety” campaign , “Say No to Drugs”
campaign aimed at educating people about the dangers of using drugs
and environmental campaigns. The Corporation also banned the sale
of cigarettes to under 18ers at its supermarkets and turned its
headquarters into a “No Smoking Zone”. More recently,
Emarat also supported the “Keep an eye on your kids”
campaign that aims to promote and educate adults in the care and
safety of their children whether at home, school or on the roads.
“We have a long standing partnership with Civil Defense and
are keen to support future events. In 1996, Emarat supplied equipment
worth Dhs.1.2 million to the Civil Defense Training Centre in Al
Awir. In addition, we have participated and supported a number of
such programmes including ‘International Day of Civil Defense’
and ‘Safety Bridge Programme’ in Abu Dhabi,” said
Al Shamsi. “We now look forward to partnering Dubai Civil
Defense in the “Voluntary First Aid Responder Scheme”
that will prove a boon to the community and greatly contribute to
further enhancing its health and safety.”
