Canon Middle East introduces new warranty program

Posted: 24 April 2003

Great products now backed by exclusive Middle East warranty

Dubai, UAE — Canon Middle East has announced its new warranty program to improve support for its customers in the Middle East. Covering the Gulf, Levant, Egypt and Iran, the Middle East Warranty will apply to all of Canon’s consumer imaging products (scanners, printers, BJ faxes, multifunction devices) and photo-video products (digital, still, camcorder). Service will be provided by Canon Service Centres in each country, with the one-year warranty covering parts and labour on manufacturing defects.

“This initiative is designed to further strengthen Canon’s great reputation for dependable, feature-rich products, and improve after-sales service. Canon is looking to provide a higher degree of support to its professional users, including tighter control of the quality of repairs and turnaround time,” said Gordon Jones, President of Canon Middle East.

“If Canon customers have a problem with their product, they can take it to the Service Centre, where dealers can trace the product history easily online. Canon has developed sophisticated information system to increase access to vital service information,” said Gennaro Bifulco, the project supervisor for the ME warranty programme. “The information systems also help Canon track its product usage across the region, allowing it to understand customer requirements better, and combat the sale of counterfeit or illegitimate goods.”

19 Service Centres, accessible through more than 30 repair points in countries throughout the Middle East, are networked together to process service and support claims for end users, providing comprehensive product information such as date of purchase, invoice date and product history through the Canon service information systems.

The Internet and Canon’s technology gives it a leading edge in raising the bar on customer service in this region. The new systems will ensures warranty repairs meet Canon’s stringent quality and reliability standards, streamlining service time. They will also increase focus on support for professional users.

“This Middle East Warranty is a definite milestone in Canon’s development in the region. Since Canon Middle East became a full subsidiary last year, we’ve been developing our systems to ensure that our customers here get exactly the same levels of service they can expect anywhere else in the world.

This warranty program streamlines and simplifies our warranty procedures, ensuring that our customers get nothing but pleasure from their Canon devices,” added Jones.
