DUBAI, UAE — BP and OOC launch first environmentally
friendly Service Station
BP Oman and Oman Oil Company (OOC) have launched the Middle East’s
first environmentally friendly filling station in the Sultanate
at Seeb.
The BP Wadi Al Bahais service station features a solar canopy that
will provide between 20 and 25 per cent of the station’s daily
electrical needs. The site also includes an energy efficient car
washing facility and a coffee shop bearing BP’s global ‘Wild
Bean Café’ brand.
This is the first service station BP Oman has constructed since
the end of a seven year government moratorium.
David Douglas, chairman of BP Oman and CEO of OOC said: “We
feel this progressive service station represents the future of BP
Oman and Oman Oil Company’s vision for continued investment
in Oman and its people while safeguarding the environment.”
BP is the world’s largest producer of solar energy. Its ‘Plug
in the Sun’ project will see hundreds of BP filling stations
around the world using solar power as part of the company’s
commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 10 per cent from
a 1990 baseline by 2010.
