SBM
hails vibrant state of Saudi technology industry

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — The GITEX technology
exhibition in Riyadh has proved a milestone in the development of
the technology industry in the Kingdom, says Saudi Business Machines
(SBM), reflecting the strength and diversity of the innovation and
skills that are available in the Saudi market.
SBM, the general marketing and services representative of IBM WTC
in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hosted a number of local and international
technology providers on its stand, and demonstrated one of the Kingdom’s
most sophisticated contact centre solutions with Riyad Bank, a strategic
customer.
SBM was also a key sponsor, and provided the PC and network technology
for the registration system at the show to ensure that visitors
could be processed quickly and smoothly.
The show highlight was the Linux Watch, an innovation from IBM’s
R&D labs which gives a glimpse of what the future could hold
in “always-connected” wireless personal information
devices.
Along with its local business partners 3i Solutions, Al Hoshan
and the Experts, SBM hosted Siebel (e-business software), Polycom
(video conferencing solutions), Native Solutions (multi-language
systems) and Retail Pro, which brought retail and mall management
solutions to the show that were firsts for the Middle East.
The core of SBM’s stand was the IBM technology, including
WebSphere web services, Lotus collaboration and messaging solutions,
DB2 data management and Tivoli systems management, supported by
the new generation of IBM e-servers and latest IBM PC product line.
