  Qatar Foundation selects Oracle

Posted: 11 May 2003

Diverse non-profit group reduces costs by consolidating information across enterprise

DOHA, QATAR — Oracle Corporation, the world’s largest enterprise software company, today announced that the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development is implementing the Oracle E-Business Suite to streamline its financial, human resources, and purchasing processes.

The private, non-profit group, with more than 360 employees, will utilise Oracle to automate many of its internal business functions, make more informed decisions, and reduce administrative expenses.

Under the direction of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, Consort of HH the Emir of Qatar, the Qatar Foundation manages a number of separate but interrelated initiatives that contribute to the development of Qatar’s academic potential.

The Qatar Education City, Qatar Academy, The Learning Center, The Academic Bridge Program, the Social development Center, VCU-Q, Weill Cornell Medical School-Qatar and Qatar Diabetes Association are all components of The Qatar Foundation.

The organisation is deploying elements of the Oracle E-Business Suite, including Oracle Financials, Oracle Human Resources Management System (HRMS) and Oracle Order Management, to centralise financial information and share workforce resources across the entire Foundation.

“Because the Qatar Foundation supports such diverse activities and projects, until now it’s been a challenge to reconcile our accounts quickly and receive a timely financial snapshot for the group.

In addition, the Foundation wanted to migrate our human resources approach to a self-service model that empowers employees to perform their own administrative processes via the Internet,” said Dr. Saif Al-Hajari, Interim Managing Director of the Qatar Foundation.

“By integrating the Qatar Foundation’s financial and human resources systems, we’re reducing our paper-based processes and decreasing expenses as a result.

The Foundation selected Oracle based on the integrated nature of its platform, and the scalability Oracle can provide for our anticipated growth,” added Dr. Saif.

Qatar Foundation will also receive considerable benefits from the Oracle Purchasing and Oracle Order Management components of the Oracle E-Business Suite.

With these solutions, the Qatar Foundation can now process requisitions, purchase orders, RFQs, quotations, and receipts more quickly and efficiently.

The organisation can also provide its customers accurate, timely order promises and then efficiently deliver on those commitments

Up to ten Qatar Foundation offices/work sites will be linked via the Oracle E-Business Suite when the implementation process, managed by Oracle partner Hyperlink, is complete.

In addition to the Qatar Foundation, leading Qatar-based organisations such as Faisal bin Qasim Group, Qatar Airways and Qatar Petro Chemical Company have deployed Oracle solutions.

“Non-profit organisations like the Qatar Foundation have a mandate to maximise their funding for the greatest possible humanitarian benefit, while keeping a tight control over financial and human resources,” commented Husam Dajani, Vice President of Oracle Middle East.

“The Qatar Foundation’s implementation of the Oracle E-Business Suite demonstrates a commitment to the longevity and foresight of the Foundation’s different initiatives. By consolidating all of the group’s information and resources, the Foundation can now more rapidly commit its endowments and people to the causes that need them the most,” Dajani added
