Shell
Solar supplies panels for US photovoltaic installation
Posted: 14 May 2003
Shell Solar, a global producer and marketer of photovoltaic cells,
panels and systems, today announced that it has supplied the photovoltaic
panels for one of the largest commercial solar power installations
in the US.
The 3,575 panels are incorporated into the recently completed “green
building” headquarters in Torrance, California, of Toyota
Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc.
They cover an area of 4,924 square metres. The array of Shell Solar
panels, which has a peak capacity of 536 kilowatts, will greatly
reduce the building’s demand on the local electricity grid
during peak hours.
Shell Solar is part of Shell Renewables, the business established
by the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies to develop commercial
opportunities in renewable energy.
Shell Solar has leading research, development and production facilities
throughout the world. Shell Solar employs about 1,100 people and
has partners for its products in over 90 countries.
