Posted: 14 May 2003
The 13th Society of Petroleum Engineers Middle East Oil & Gas
Show and Conference (MEOS 2003) is set to take place under the patronage
of HH the Prime Minister of Bahrain Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al
Khalifa at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from 9 –
12 June 2003.
The event was rescheduled from the original dates 5 – 8 April
in light of hostilities in Iraq.
As confidence returns to the region and fresh opportunities open
up to the oil and gas sector, over 90 per cent of exhibiting companies
have renewed their participation and new stand bookings have been
received.
In total, 161 companies from 23 countries have signed up to showcase
the latest products and technological advances made in the industry
in the largest exhibition in the 26-year history of the series.
“With the reduction in travel to the Gulf region over the
last months there is somewhat of a vacuum, and there has never been
a better time for the world’s oil industry to meet for the
transfer of ideas and technology and forge new relationships.
Qatar Petroleum is committed to sending a comprehensive visitor
delegation to MEOS 2003, as are my colleagues from the other national
oil companies in the Gulf,” Nasser K. Jaidah, MEOS 2003 Conference
Chairman and Director of Oil and Gas Ventures at Qatar Petroleum
said.
Exhibitors include such key individual technology suppliers and
operators as Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, ConocoPhillips, TotalFinaElf,
Shell, BP, ChevronTexaco and ExxonMobil; major Gulf oil companies
Bapco, Saudi Aramco, Petroleum Development Oman, Abu Dhabi National
Oil Company, Qatar Petroleum, and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation
plus national pavilions from the United Kingdom and the United States
of America in addition to smaller specialist suppliers and distributors.
The technical conference organised by the Society of Petroleum
Engineers (SPE) that runs parallel to the exhibition of oil and
gas related products takes place this year under the theme Technology
Solutions for the Oil and Gas Business: New Middle East Focus.
Over 186 technical papers and posters addressing issues at the
cutting edge of development will be presented by industry professionals,
providing delegates with an unrivalled opportunity to exchange ideas
and know-how face to face.
A total of 15 technical sessions will cover topics related to Drilling
and Completion, Formation Evaluation, Production Engineering, Reservoir
Management and Related Technologies.
A major programme highlight will be provided by the New Technology
Showcase session introduced by the SPE for the first time highlighting
the most recent advances in technology from around the world.
Commercial in nature, these presentations will provide the opportunity
for technology driven companies to introduce and market their technology.
Three sessions have been selected to cover advances related to
Drilling, Well Completion, Formation Evaluation, Production Operations,
Seismic, Visualisation and IT Technology.
Held on the first day of MEOS, they will provide delegates with
an insight into the rest of the conference and exhibition.
In addition, 2 interactive panel sessions entitled Middle East
Gas Development and Sustaining Oil Production Through Application
of New Technologies will be held on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11
June.
MEOS 2003 is organised by Arabian Exhibition Management in conjunction
with Overseas Exhibition Services.
