Geolog 6.5 streamlines E&P workflow
Posted: 2 June 2003
The newest version of Geolog offers unrivalled functionality
and interoperability
Paradigm, the premier provider of advanced petroleum geoscience
and drilling technology to the oil and gas exploration and production
industry, announces the release of the latest evolution of its industry-leading
Geolog log management, correlation and petrophysics software solution.
The new release, Geolog 6.5, features a working environment aligned
to oil company needs and practices, and delivers numerous functionality
enhancements which help streamline the workflows of all users, from
the occasional user to the expert.
Geolog 6.5 is the first application built on Paradigm’s new
epos 3.0 data management and interoperability integration framework,
which provides a common solution enabling users to move seamlessly
between Paradigm products, and directly access proprietary and third-party
data repositories.
epos 3.0 offers unrivalled interdisciplinary operability and enables
use of the most powerful tools, regardless of where underlying data
is physically stored.
In addition to a large number of enhancements enabled by its re-designed
Graphical User Interface (GUI), Geolog 6.5 supports additional operating
systems — 64-bit Solaris and IRIX and, for the first time,
Linux — and delivers new high-end add-on modules for the specialist,
such as the Geomage image log analysis module (now in full release),
and the debut of Geolog Correlator, a powerful correlation tool
for geologists.
Now released at production level, Geomage image preprocessing consists
of modules to manipulate array data in various image formats, and
convert these to Paradigm’s generic image format before further
analysis, which includes automatic dip analysis, fracture detection
and image texture classification.
Geomage currently handles the Halliburton EMI and Schlumberger
FMS, FMI, OBMI and UBI image logs.
Geolog 6.5 also delivers many enhancements to Facimage, TotalFinaElf’s
field-proven solution for electrofacies analysis.
These include a new model-building interface, which greatly reduces
set-up time, and the addition of several new analysis methodologies.
Richard Pelling, Product Manager of Geolog, said, “Geolog
has always had a reputation for flexibility and ease of use, but
we have chosen not to rest on our laurels. In Geolog 6.5 we have
totally revised the GUI, building on all the best features from
earlier versions to produce something better than ever. Collaboration
with selected customers throughout the development and testing process
has played a major role in delivering the most advanced solution
in the market, without compromising usability.”
Geolog 6.5 will be one of the featured solutions on display in
Paradigm booth 201, at the EAGE conference in Stavanger, Norway,
June 2-5.
