Schlumberger delivers Revus Energy living model workflow

Posted: 4June 2003

Schlumberger Information Solutions (SIS) has been awarded a contract to provide a Living Model workflow to Stavanger-based Revus Energy.

The five-year contract with upstream independent Revus represents the first such contract in Europe.

"We worked closely with SIS to identify the Living Model workflow that would best enable us to achieve our objectives," said Revus general manager, Tim Sullivan.

"We chose the solution that combines our technical skills with the industry-leading software and support of SIS to deliver the optimal workflow. In addition, SIS will provide remote data management and backup services."

The Living Model concept, tailored to meet Revus' specific needs, provides an optimal seismic-to-simulation workflow with the Petrel suite of PC-based software seamlessly coupled with ECLIPSE FrontSim reservoir simulation software and Interactive Petrophysics software.

Key capabilities include the ability to integrate new data, rapidly update understanding of the subsurface and reduce uncertainty, which are becoming increasingly important as the industry moves toward the true SmartField™.

"The contract is based on our ability to provide an unmatched asset performance solution," said Ihab Toma, president, SIS. "A Living Model implementation offers the ability to model rapidly, as well as perform risk and uncertainty evaluation-capabilities Revus will combine with its strategy to optimally exploit existing producing fields on the Norwegian Shelf."

With Petrel at its heart, the Living Model workflow allows users at all levels to build dependable models and supports business decisions with the latest information throughout the life of the asset.

The combination of Petrel Workflow Tools with SIS software gives customers the ability to develop a 3D model of the reservoir with both static and dynamic capabilities.
