wins UK Institute of Transport Management award

Award recognizes outstanding contribution to the development
of transport standards through innovative IT solutions
Schlumberger today announced that its information technology (IT)
business segment, SchlumbergerSema, has been awarded the "Supreme
Award of Excellence" by The Institute of Transport Management.
The award recognizes the outstanding contribution by SchlumbergerSema
to the development of transport standards in the UK.
The award went to the company primarily as a result of its participation
in the UK Government's 10 year plan for transport and the subsequent
development of the Transport Direct portal which will provide passenger
travel information linking all modes of transport.
The Transport Direct portal is one of the most comprehensive services
of its kind providing travellers with easy-to-access travel information
over the internet for the entire journey whether it be by train,
bus, tube, tram, air or car.
It will enable travellers to easily view their travel options,
plan journeys, compare costs, predict journey times and keep up
to date with real time travel conditions. It will also provide links
to ticketing service providers.
Under a three-year contract worth £15 million, SchlumbergerSema
is responsible for overall project management including the design,
build and managed service operation of the portal.
In awarding SchlumbergerSema with the "Supreme Award of Excellence"
the Institute recognises the company's achievements in the transport
sector and its ability to work with industry partners to bring learning,
experience and technologies together to drive positive change.

that we can meet the challenge of delivering a fully integrated
transport system in the UK," commented Dominic Arcari, director
for transport, SchlumbergerSema. "We believe that IT is the
most cost-effective and efficient means of delivering this concept.
Receiving the "Supreme Award of Excellence" by The Institute
of Transport Management confirms that SchlumbergerSema is delivering
technologically advanced and integrated systems to the transport
industry."
