Flowserve Pump Division recently announced a substantial order
for three large WUC vertical double casing pumps from Tractebel
Gas Engineering in Bonn, Germany (a subsidiary of Tractebel, Belgium).
The pumps are to be used on transfer duty in the tank farm of the
BASF-YPC Company Limited IPS Project in Nanjing, China.
The pumps will be working on a particularly onerous application,
transferring liquid ethylene at -30ºC. The client selected
the Flowserve WUC pumps, which have a design limit of -104ºC,
for this critical duty because of their robustness and reliability.
This is the latest order achieved for the IPS Project by Flowserve
Pump Division’s German sales organization. Flowserve has several
significant manufacturing, servicing and sales operations in Germany,
as well as in other European locations.
The WUC pumps are manufactured at the Flowserve plant in Brunn,
Austria.
The plant in Nanjing is a Sino-German joint venture between BASF
and Sinopec to produce dimethyl formamide (DMF), a building block
in the production of vinyl resins and polyacrylic fibers. The current
phase will see production increase from 10,000 tonnes per year to
40,000 tonnes per year by 2005 with a total investment of 2.5 million
Euros.
Flowserve Corporation is one of the world’s leading providers
of industrial flow management services.
