Cisco Systems and Tech Data launch guide to safe computing
in light of recent threats
In response to the growing networks security breaches in the Middle
East, Cisco Systems and Tech Data FZ-LLC today launched a networking
security guide to the Middle East technology reseller channel.
The guide, according to the two companies, is an essential tool
that the channel can use to understand the potential threats on
computing and networked environments and the relevant preventive
methods to counter any sort of attack.
Dorian Breakspear-Coyle, Cisco Business Unit Manager at Tech Data
said: “We continue working very closely with Cisco to ensure
that the channel is up to date on this topic and is able to extend
all the support needed to its customers, ensuring the security of
their operating environments. We have a long way to go in that aspect
and we will continue to work with Cisco and the channel to achieve
that objective.”
Along with an overview of the most recent attacks, the Cisco Security
Solutions Guide explains the nature of these on networks, the flaws
in networked environments that attract intruders, and a detailed
description of security strategies to protect against them.
Tim Scott, business development manager at Cisco Systems says:
“It is no longer enough to simply install back-up devices
and anti-virus software to operate in safe environments. Security
today, if not implemented within the overall technology strategy,
can be a detriment to the profitability of businesses, their investments
in technology especially their migration to the Internet and networked
and more efficient environments.”
Earlier this year, Cisco Systems and Tech Data stepped up their
efforts with the reseller channel on various security initiatives
including seminars, collaterals, web-based training and security
assessment tools.
The guide, distributed to the regional reseller channel free of
charge, enables the channel to have quick access to latest security
related information and solutions from Cisco.
“To remain competitive, the reseller channel needs to demonstrate
its capabilities in addressing the most pressing needs of businesses
in this region. Today, safe computing environments top the agendas
for all types and sizes of companies; the channel will find in the
Cisco Security Solutions Guide a road-map to safe computing strategies
that meet the needs of all customers," said Breakspear-Coyle.
