HP announces server trade-in programme across region

Posted: 25 June 2003

HP has announced the ‘ProLiant Server Trade-in Programme’ for customers based in the Middle East, at all hp Partner outlets in the region.

Under the trade-in programme, customers have the flexibility to trade-in one or more servers of any make and specification, in return for newer model/s.

Announcing the trade-in programme, Ryan D'Souza, HP’s Product Marketing Manager, Industry Standard Servers (ISS) for the Gulf and Levant, said that this was a unique opportunity for every customer to realise value in their existing investments in server infrastructure. “The ProLiant Server Trade-in Programme allows everyone not merely to avail of the benefits of the latest technology but also recognise immense value on ageing servers.”

Customers participating in the trade-in can exchange old servers of any Intel or RISC-based make, and any specifications that range from 1P to 8P.

“There are no restrictions on the make, model and age of the servers that can be traded-in under the programme; the only pre-requisite is that it be operational models with functional configuration (memory, controller and internal disks),” said D’Souza.

“The HP ProLiant programme is invaluable for companies and individuals who are running their infrastructure on technology that is outdated. As always, with ProLiant, customers have the freedom and flexibility to choose what they get in exchange for traded-in servers and depending on what they choose, can get immensely valuable returns,” D’Souza explained.

HP’s fixed set of server models and prices are weighed against traded models for one of the three options:

  • Refresh, which offers a straight swap of old technology for new with a low trade-in value.
  • Consolidate, which offers trade-in of more than one server in exchange for a higher end server and consolidation of applications, with a moderate trade-in value
  • Secure, which offers trade-in of more than one server in exchange for an integrated cluster solution with high to very high trade-in value.

The programme has no defined time limit and will be refreshed periodically to accommodate changes in technology and prices so as to ensure that HPs customers get the most value out of the programme. The ProLiant Server Trade-in programme is available through all HP authorised partners and resellers.
