Petroleum signs HSE deal with DuPont De Nemours
Posted: 29 June 2003
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and DuPont De Nemours International
signed a project agreement to develop a corporate Health, Safety
and Environment Management System and the required necessary standards
and guidelines.
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation is a world leader in the oil industry
and its vision is to become a regional leader in Health, Safety
and Environment Management System performance to ensure the protection
of the environment and the health and safety of its employees and
contractors.
The purpose of this project is to provide KPC consultancy services
for the design, and development of a corporate Health, Safety and
Environmental Management System and necessary standards, guidelines
to meet the KPC vision set out above.
The new KPC Corporate Health, Safety and Environment Management
System will combine the elements, standards and guidelines already
in place at the major affiliates and KAFCO and upgrade them by transferring
and adding knowledge contained within the DuPont Corporate system.
This will be based on the proven successful system developed by
DuPont and applied at all of its facilities and locations around
the world. A DuPont team consisting of senior consultants will work
closely with KPC to plan and execute the project by applying the
latest and most appropriate systems in KPC operations, while developing
a highly skilled and motivated Kuwaiti workforce.
The implementation of the new Health, Safety and Environment Management
System throughout the group will be the responsibility of each of
the affiliates. DuPont will assess progress at the end of this process.
Once implemented, this project will result in a measurable decrease
in the number of accidents and injuries recorded within the group.
Typical reductions in other DuPont engagements have been between
30 per cent and 50 per cent in incidents over three to five years.
