New clashing routine for Plant-4D Plant Design Software
CEA develops, market and implements Plant-4D, a data-centric plant
design system. CEA now releases a new Clashing module for Plant-4D,
replacing the previous clashing routine. CEA started programming
the new routine from scratch, resulting in an advanced routine to
quickly identify constraints in the plant design. The new routine
had not only to be complete and reliable, but also very quick. Another
requirement to the programmers was, that the routine could be used
without any need for CAD software.
All these goals were achieved. The new clashing routine can be
operated out of CEA's 4D-Explorer, the web-enabled browser that
manages all project-related data. The clashing routine can identify
hard clashes, as well as soft clashes. Soft clashes are applicable
e.g. when using insulation, and the minimum required distance is
fully user-definable.
After the routine has calculated all possible clashes, the user
can browse through them by means of the walk-through viewer, that
forms an integrated part of the 4D-Explorer. Identified clashes
can be highlighted, zoom in on and isolated. Individual clashes
can be approved. The runs can subsequently be saved to open them
later on.
