Refreshments quenches thirst with Oracle

UAE’s exclusive Pepsi Bottler & Distributor overhauls
its manufacturing and financial processes
Oracle Corporation, the world’s largest enterprise software
company, announced that Dubai Refreshments Company (P.S.C.), the
sole franchisee and distributor for PepsiCo in Dubai and the Northern
Emirates, is deploying modules of the Oracle E-Business Suite to
further integrate its financial, human resources, asset management,
and manufacturing activities.
Dubai Refreshments has selected Oracle E-Business Suite in an effort
to streamline its business processes and reduce operating expenses
by consolidating its back-office information onto a single platform.
Following on the heels of Dubai Refreshment’s implementation
of a customer relationship-marketing centre to service all customer
enquiries regarding sales, maintenance, promotions and fleet enquiries,
the company is now focusing its attention on streamlining internal
procedures.
Oracle’s business applications will facilitate greater employee
access to information, as well as a faster reconciling of accounts
across Dubai Refreshment’s different operations.
In addition, Dubai Refreshments employees will have access to human
resources benefits and payroll processes online via the new Oracle
solution.
The consolidation of Dubai Refreshment’s financial and manufacturing
systems will also help the company accurately plan and forecast.
The new project will also support recent addition of brands such
as 7UP, Diet 7UP and Aquafina Pure Drinking Water to its beverage
portfolio. In the intensely competitive soft drink market, Dubai
Refreshments now has the tools to drive down costs and increase
the transparency and timeliness of its financial reporting.
With more than 100 distribution trucks supplying around 15,000
outlets in the UAE, the increased efficiency enabled by Oracle Manufacturing
will allow Dubai Refreshments to deliver its beverage range to the
market more quickly and respond to new opportunities in the beverage
market.
More over the new business solution will enable Dubai Refreshments
to streamline its supply-chain, inventory management and increase
the efficiency of its bottling operation.
“Pepsi is already an Oracle customer in the Levant, Arabian
Gulf and North Africa countries, as well as Saudi Arabia.
To increase internal automation and integrate more closely with
our global brand, Dubai Refreshments also chose to partner with
Oracle,” commented G.V. Rao, IT Manager, Dubai Refreshments.
“Given our aggressive growth strategy over the next few years,
including online initiatives as well as the launch of new beverages,
Dubai Refreshments required a reliable, scalable and highly available
set of business solutions, and Oracle’s E-Business Suite fit
those needs,” Rao added.
One of the major advantages of Dubai Refreshments’ new Oracle
business applications is the ability to generate up-to-date performance
metrics as well as profit-and-loss summaries across all of its different
soft drink brands, distribution outlets, and delivery routes.
Keeping this diverse information up-to-date and maintaining it
in a single place gives Dubai Refreshments’ executives greater
insight into the company’s profitability and capacity to expand
operations, commented Alan Salem, General Manager, Dubai Refreshments.
“In a hotly contested industry that requires innovation to
maintain market leadership, Dubai Refreshments created a major advantage
by taking greater control over its disparate financial, human resources,
and manufacturing processes. Integrating and putting these systems
online should result in measurable cost savings, while opening the
door to new bottling and distribution opportunities for the company,”
commented Husam Dajani, Vice President, Oracle Middle East.
Oracle partner Hyperlink is managing the implementation of Dubai
Refreshment’s new applications, which are expected to be deployed
during 2003. With this deployment, Dubai Refreshments joins PepsiCo
Middle East and North Africa as an Oracle customer.
