Posted: 14 July 2003

Industrial development in the region and Pakistan’s ideal geographical location at the crossroads of Central Asia and the Arabian Sea has brought into focus Pakistan’s potential as an attractive market and an international transit route for energy.

Pakistan Oil, Gas & Energy Exhibition, being the foremost event of its kind in Pakistan, will further open the gateway to regional co-operation by blending the two sectors into one show:

OIL & GAS PAKISTAN
Exploration, Production, Refining & Marketing

ENERGY PAKISTAN
Generation, Transmission, Technology & Services

POGEE will converge national, regional and international players to establish new business contacts and discuss projects in Pakistan within the Energy Sector while fostering international business opportunities.

Increasing Investment Opportunities
Pakistan’s huge sedimentary basins, stretching over 825,000 sq. kms offer immense potential for exploration and development of local natural resources, with an average exploration density of one well for 2,000 sq. km.

With an average exploration success ratio of 1:3.5, the government of Pakistan has embarked upon a comprehensive plan to drill up to 100 wells each year.

Regional developments have brought new business prospects such as the implementation of some major transnational pipeline projects.

Reforms in power sector have gained a high priority in the agenda of the Government of Pakistan with prime focus on the development of locally produced gas and coal based sources of energy.

Alongside, further strengthening the hydropower sector, it is estimated that the economic hydropower potential in the country is 20,000 MW, where as the existing capacity in operation is 5,010 MW.

In addition, Pakistan also offers immense investment opportunities for development & utilisation of alternate sources of energy like solar, wind and biogas.

These highly lucrative and thinly competitive investment opportunities in the region make Pakistan and POGEE an ideal venue for the energy sector professionals to visit.

POGEE Conference
POGEE Conference Programme highlights the vast potential in the Oil, Gas & Energy sectors of the region while discussing the future policies and perspective for its promotion.

The show will take place from 17 – 20 March, 2004 in Karachi, Pakistan
