U.S. Robotics brings 100Mbps wireless to Middle East

Posted: 15 July 2003

US Robotics, world’s first provider of 100Mbps wireless access kit that is secure, compatible and affordable

U.S. Robotics, the world’s leading vendor of internet access solutions, announced the launch of its 802.11g Wireless Turbo range, powered by the company’s pioneering “Accelerator Technology” — increasing performance levels up to 100 Mbps all on a single channel.

Yusuf Syed, Regional Manager, U.S. Robotics, said that the product is the first of its kind in the world, and will revolutionise the wireless industry. “With access at this speed, users will be able to send and receive data faster, more securely and with greater compatibility.

The Wireless Turbo range functions on a single channel, to ensure greater network capacity and the highest data throughput.”

The Accelerator Technology, according to Tony Field, Product Manager EMEA, U.S. Robotics, provides users with 54 Mbps accelerated to 100 Mbps performance.

“To ensure the fastest data throughput rates at all times, U.S. Robotics designed the 802.11g Wireless Turbo line for total compatibility with all 54 Mbps 802.11g, 22 Mbps and 11 Mbps 802.11b wireless devices,” Field added.

“And because security is a critical concern in any network, U.S. Robotics 802.11g Wireless Turbo products are designed to be up to 10 times more secure than standard wireless networking products. Users can work wirelessly with the confidence of knowing they have the highest level of security protecting their network data and communications.”

The U.S. Robotics 802.11g Wireless Turbo portfolio, which will be available in the Middle East early next month, includes a router, multi-function access point, PCI adapter and PC card. This product line will allow users to set up state of the art wireless networks with no hassle at all, giving them access to a truly mobile lifestyle.

“The versatility and ease of use of U.S. Robotics 802.11g Wireless Turbo products mean a wireless network can be easily set up in an existing wired network without expensive infrastructure costs”, explains Syed.

“With a quick and easy three-step installation process, users can quickly become productive with their new wireless network. The unique, stackable case design of the router and multi-function access point require minimal space, so that both home network users and small-to-medium size business owners alike can grow their networks with an entire family of other U.S. Robotics networking and broadband devices. The U.S. Robotics 802.11g Wireless Turbo product line includes the following solutions designed to optimise any network.”

Competitive products will commonly experience network slowdowns in mixed mode networking environment of 802.11g and 802.11b wireless networking equipment, which essentially sacrifices data throughput for compatibility. U.S. Robotics 802.11g Wireless Turbo products ensure that each device will securely connect independently at the highest speed possible with any combination of 54 Mbps 802.11g, 22 Mbps and 11 Mbps 802.11b wireless devices.

“The new US Robotics Wireless Turbo Range is designed for the future, built upon proven technology and backed by an organization that is committed to the highest standards of product quality and customer satisfaction," said Field.
