Labtech growing with new appointments
Posted: 16 July 2003
Engineering specialist to the oil and gas industry Labtech Modular
Engineering has announced the appointment of three key personnel
and its success in being accepted onto Scottish Enterprise's Globalisation
Programme.
The announcements are in line with the on-going growth strategy
from the company, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
Mike Duckett has been appointed as company operations director.
Mr Duckett was an industry consultant for many years before joining
Labtech. He has a broad range of experience and skills in operations,
marketing, finance and management, gained from managing companies
both in the UK and overseas. Mr Duckett, who lives in Aberdeen,
has been appointed by Labtech to help expand the company¹s
business portfolio.
Norman Porter joins the company as a project engineer. Mr Porter,
who lives in Aberdeenshire, brings 20 years' experience of the oil
and gas industry to his new post. His role is to strengthen Labtech's
project management team and expand the company¹s project portfolio.
Ashley Thomson, a Mechanical Engineering honours graduate with
a comprehensive knowledge of various aspects of engineering, has
been appointed as business development manager with a brief to explore
and develop new opportunities predominantly outside the oil and
gas sector. His role will also include product development.
The new appointments coincide with Labtech's acceptance onto Scottish
Enterprise's Globalisation Programme.
Under the programme, Labtech will receive assistance to expand
into further international markets through the employment of Scottish
Enterprise consultants.
Managing Director Jim Manson said, "I am delighted to welcome
Mike, Norman and Ashley to Labtech. Their arrival could not have
been better timed because, with our entry onto the Globalisation
Programme, we are now in an excellent position to expand our business.
"Our aim is to create a company which has a strong presence
in world's main oil centres. The appointment of such key personnel,
and the Globalisation Programme success, are a very clear statement
of our intentions and the way we expect our company to develop.
"Mike has experience of operating at a high level of business
and has a very wide skill base. His experience includes responsibility
for the running of companies overseas, the setting up of joint ventures
and the establishment of licensing agreements — all of which
will help us move to our next stage of growth.
"Norman's knowledge of running projects is really helping
us. He is playing a major role in securing and managing a far wider
range of projects and his skills are already proving invaluable.
"Ashley has an impressive and broad-based engineering background.
He is developing the non-oil side of our business and widening our
product lines within the oil industry. His role is to generate business
development, an area which we regard as vital, and to work on the
conceptual design, development and presentation of projects, using
of our latest 3d modelling software, SolidWorks."
