Gulf Business Machines strategic partnership with BSH
Posted: 23 July 2003
Gulf Business Machines (GBM), Sole Distributor for IBM Products
and services in the Gulf countries excluding Saudi Arabia, has announced
a strategic partnership with BSH (Business Systems House), under
which both companies will offer ‘hr.base’, BSH’s
e-business Human Resource (HR) and Payroll solution.
“hr.base is a flexible and comprehensive e-business solution,
which is designed to help achieve the strategic goals of growing
business and government organisations by providing a foundation
for workforce optimisation, management and skills development,”
said Marc de Marcillac, Head of Consulting, GBM.
Using hr.base organisations can plan for resources and successions,
develop employee competencies and careers, recruit skilled candidates
and perform assessments and appraisals. However, unlike international
HR packages, hr.base is unique in that it has been specifically
designed for the regional market so that organisations can address
their HR business challenges through a customised yet relevant ‘off
the shelf’ solution.
Fourteen integrated modules — Manpower Budgeting, Time Attendance,
Career Development, Succession Planning, Recruitment, Training,
Performance Evaluation, Housing, Transportation, Events Management,
Correspondences, Employee web-based self service, Personnel and
Payroll — comprise the solution and they can be interfaced
with other financial and industry specific applications as well
as standard support systems.
Featuring Arabic functionality, hr.base is scalable and incorporates
‘best-of-breed’ technology including relational database
and web enablement. Implementation of the solution is fast and cost-effective
given that most of its functions are ‘parameterised’.
“Our partnership with GBM is a significant development as
it will certainly help decision makers in today’s competitive
and fast changing environment adapt their organisational structures
and employee competencies based on the challenges their organisations
face,” said Houssam Hatoum, Managing Director, BSH.
“GBM welcomes BSH as our newest business partner and the
synergies between our companies will serve to strengthen our overall
service offering,” added Jim Massey, Director of Professional
Services, GBM.
