Marathon senior vice president retires early

Marathon Oil Corporation's G. David Golder, Marathon, senior vice
president of Commercialisation and Development, has elected to take
early retirement, effective October 1, after more than 30 years
of service.
Commenting on the announcement, Marathon president and CEO Clarence
P. Cazalot, Jr., said, "Dave's career with Marathon has been
marked by professionalism, leadership and a commitment to excellence.
We thank him for the many contributions he has made to Marathon's
success and wish him and his family health and happiness in the
years ahead."
Golder earned an undergraduate degree in Petroleum and Natural
Gas Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1969.
He joined Marathon as an intern in 1966 and became a full time
employee in 1969 as a petroleum engineer in Anchorage, Alaska. He
transferred to Cody, Wyoming, as a reservoir engineer in 1973 and
served there until 1975 when he joined Phillips Petroleum in Stavanger,
Norway.
In 1979, Golder returned to Marathon as a senior reservoir engineer
for the Brae Project, located in London. He remained in London until
1981 when he became operations engineering supervisor and transferred
to Aberdeen, Scotland. Golder held various managerial positions
in Aberdeen and ultimately became the production manager of Brae
"A."
He transferred to Houston in 1988 as operations planning manager
for Worldwide Production. Early in 1989, he became production manager,
USA, on the staff of the vice president, domestic production.
In 1990, he transferred to Lafayette, Louisiana, to become the Gulf
Coast region production manager.
He was elected executive vice president of upstream for Sakhalin
Energy in 1996 and moved to Moscow. While serving in this capacity
in Sakhalin Energy, Golder was also named vice president of Asian
operations by Marathon in January 1999.
He was elected Marathon Oil Company's vice president, international
production, effective November 1, 1999, and returned to Houston.
In October 2000, Golder was appointed senior vice president, commercialization
& development.
Golder is a Commissioner on the Wyoming Energy Commission, and
an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American
Petroleum Institute. He is a member of the Board of Directors for
the Offshore Energy Center in Galveston and previously served on
the United Way Board of Directors of Acadiana, the Lafayette Chamber
of Commerce, and the Evangeline Council of Boy Scouts of America.
Golder is a 1985 graduate of the Program for Management Development
at Harvard University's Graduate School of Business. Golder and
his wife Lori plan to reside in Houston.
