BJ Services awarded major contract in Pakistan
Posted: 4 August 2003
BJ Process and Pipeline Services (BJ PPS) today announced that
it has been awarded a contract by Clough Engineering Limited of
Australia to supply nitrogen leak testing services for the processing
facility on the Sawan Gas Field Development in Pakistan.
The Austrian oil and gas group, OMV, are developing the onshore
Sawan Gas Field, which is located to the northeast of Karachi. Pakistan
Petroleum Limited, Government Holdings Pakistan Limited, Eni AEP
Limited and MND Czech Republic are the other joint venture partners
in the Sawan Project.
The primary element of the project is the central processing plant
that will have a capacity of 340 million scfd when both gas trains
are operational. In addition to the process facility, there are
flow lines from the producing wells and a 15 kilometre, 20-inch
gas sales pipeline.
OMV has awarded the engineering, procurement, construction and
commissioning contract on turn- key basis to Clough Engineering,
who have in turn subcontracted BJ PPS to perform pre-commissioning
nitrogen leak detection services on the process facility pipework
systems.
Critical Leak Detection Services Ensure a Safe Start-up
For safety and operational reasons, it is critical that the process
facility be leak free prior to commissioning with live gas. BJ PPS
is using its specialist nitrogen helium leak detection technology
to ensure a safe, leak-free start-up. Technical expertise and equipment
to service the six-month Clough Engineering contract is being provided
by BJ PPS from its base in Dubai, UAE.
“Pre-commissioning leak detection services for Train 1 have
already been successfully completed and pre-planning for Train 2
is now progressing. Train 1 process plant has already been safely
started, and we look forward to contributing to the safe and efficient
startup of Train 2 processing facilities later in the year,”
said John Adams, general manager of BJ PPS.
BJ Services Company (BJS-NYSE, CBOE) is a leading provider of
pressure pumping and related oilfield services to the petroleum
