Posted: 4 August 2003
Oracle Corporation's latest release of its business applications,
Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.9, is now available across the Middle
East and includes over 900 enhancements designed to meet the business
needs of specific industries.
These enhancements, along with nearly a thousand others, will help
organisations streamline the use of business information and processes.
For example, Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.9 includes new capabilities
to manage electronic signatures and secure audit trails, enabling
businesses to comply with new and emerging regulatory requirements
while maintaining viable corporate governance strategies.
More than 20 industries are expected to benefit from the advances
in Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.9, including aerospace and defense,
automotive, communications, consumer packaged goods, financial services,
government, healthcare, high tech and life sciences.
Commenting on the enhancements, Oracle Middle East’s Vice
President, Husam Dajani, said, “One of the reasons that the
Oracle E-Business Suite is the most widely deployed ERP solution
in this region is because we have first-hand expertise in the specific
industries that rely on our solution.
From banking to healthcare to manufacturing to telecoms, no solutions
provider has a more diverse or prominent customer base than Oracle,
and that’s resulted from our sector-specific knowledge and
investment in developing software to meet the needs of those sectors.”
Financial Services
Rigorous new regulations and an ever-increasing competitive landscape
challenge financial services providers in the Middle East to grow
profitably while improving customer services. The new financial
services capabilities in Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.9 help financial
institutions operate more efficiently and meet new regulatory deadlines,
while keeping customer satisfaction levels high. Enhancements include
daily multi-currency revaluations, user-defined customer behavior
predictions, sales and marketing content creation management, and
enhanced call center support.
Al Rajhi Banking and Investment Corporation, the National Bank
of Dubai, and Egyptian American Bank are some of Oracle customers
in the region who can benefit immediately from the new solution
functionality specifically created for the financial services sector.
Government
Governments are evolving to meet increasing public demands, legislative
mandates, and economic and political pressures to be more responsive,
efficient and accountable.
The latest enhancements in Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.9 are designed
to help government agencies modernise their operations, reduce inefficiencies
and meet strict accountability standards.
In addition to existing comprehensive grants management and multi-channel
citizen service management capabilities, new Oracle E-Business Suite
enhancements include supplier self registration and profile management,
procurement support for dual budgetary controls, and rules based
and workflow driven position control funds re-allocation.
In the Middle East, many governments and eGovernment initiatives
have adopted Oracle technology and business applications to achieve
higher efficiencies, these include Government of the Kingdom of
Bahrain, Government of Oman, and Dubai Government.
Communications
Without customer profitability data, communications service providers
cannot know what products or services to cross-sell or up-sell,
and to which customers. Companies in this industry are incurring
high sales and marketing costs because these activities are not
targeted to the most relevant and profitable customers. In the front
office, the lack of complete and accurate customer data results
in poor or inefficient customer service.
Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.9 enables communications service providers
to vastly improve service order accuracy through new MACD (move,
add, change, disconnect) functionality, helping to reduce order
fallout, decrease the time and cost of provisioning, and improve
customer satisfaction.
Oracle's extended multi-channel ordering capability tracks the
full lifecycle of services, locations, rules and other variables
in a customer's install base, allowing for the accurate change or
upgrade of installed products and services to meet the needs of
customers.
Additional enhancements include advanced marketing campaign management
and customer analytics, and proposal generation and management.
Kuwait’s Wataniya and Bahrain’s BATELCO, OmanTel, LibaCell
are among Oracle’s telecommunications customers in the Middle
East.
Aviation/Aerospace & Defense (A&D)
As Aviation and Aerospace and Defense (A&D) companies continue
to slash costs and reduce operating inefficiencies, they are examining
maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) processes to ensure maximised
up-time for aircrafts, vehicles and other capital assets.
Developed specifically for the aviation, aerospace and defense
industries, Oracle Complex MRO enables airlines, third-party maintenance
providers, armed forces, government contractors and original equipment
manufacturers to meet these operational efficiency goals by maintaining
complex configurations, effectively planning enterprise-wide operations,
centrally managing all engineering data and streamlining maintenance
operations.
Emirates Airline, and Qatar Airways are among Oracle’s customers
in this industry in the Middle East.
Consumer Packaged Goods
Regulated industries, including consumer packaged goods, are required
by law to provide key information about the genealogy of their products.
In the event of a product recall, access to information to pinpoint
the source and potential scope of exposure is critical to minimise
safety issues, financial risk and damage to the brand.
Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.9 provides companies with HACCP (Hazardous
Analysis and Critical Control Points) quality test points, automatic
lot grading, integration of production scheduling and process manufacturing,
continuous real-time demand planning, promotional ROI calculations,
and retroactive promotional adjustments.
Other general enhancements to the suite help this industry reduce
costs while simultaneously improving product quality, on-time delivery
and trade relations.
Saudi Arabia’s Nadec and Savola Group, as well as Dubai Refreshments,
are among the Oracle E-Business Suite clients that are able to further
improve the compliance and stringency of their manufacturing operations
through the new software enhancements in the Middle East.
Healthcare
The healthcare industry has experienced a broad spectrum of market
influences in recent history.
Among these are the challenges to improve the quality of care and
reduce operational costs. The new healthcare capabilities in Oracle
E-Business Suite 11i.9 help organisations increase patient satisfaction
while trimming operational costs.
Key to meeting these objectives is Oracle's Healthcare Transaction
Base, which provides a single repository for healthcare data, health
security and audit services, terminology mediation, integration
with administrative and clinical services, and a master person index
to enable enterprise-wide sharing of a centrally managed medical
record. Additional new healthcare capabilities include consigned
inventory management and operating room scheduling integration.
Automotive
Prices for the finished product in the automotive industry are falling
faster than costs.
Thus, efforts that reduce operating expenses, increase efficiency
and visibility and allow management to better align supply with
demand are held paramount.
The new automotive enhancements in Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.9
enable companies to collaborate more effectively with trading partners
for improved decision-making capabilities, reduced inventory levels
and increased profitability for vehicle and assembly production.
Oracle's new capabilities include production flow line sequencing,
direct shipping from work-in-process, enhanced blanket and supplier
change orders and releases, and global purchasing agreements.
Ford Europe, Fiat Auto Argentina, Subaru, and Toyota Europe are
among Oracle automotive industry customers.
