Schlumberger integrates biometrics with DeXa.Badge
Posted: 11 August 2003
Schlumberger DeXa.Badge provides award-winning, multi-factor
authentication solutions for strong security, convenience and long-term
value for identity management solutions
SchlumbergerSema, the information technology (IT) business segment
of Schlumberger Limited, announced an alliance and original equipment
manufacturer (OEM) licensing agreement with I/O Software, a leading
authentication platform provider.
The agreement allows Schlumberger to integrate I/O Software biometric
authentication technologies into its DeXa.Badge Strong Authentication
Solution (SAS), so customers can seamlessly implement multiple biometric
technologies within their identity management systems.
Incorporating Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), biometrics, and
Match On Card technology, Schlumberger won Best Biometric Solution
for its DeXa.Badge SAS at the Secure Computing (SC) Magazine Awards
in April 2003.
DeXa.Badge, part of the Schlumberger DeXa Suite of IT infrastructure
services, is an identity management solution in a single credit
card-sized device used by employees for both physical and logical
access to buildings, networks, e-mail and encrypted files, wherever
they are working or traveling.
DeXa.Badge SAS supports multiple authentication mechanisms, including
biometrics, applied via authentication policies based on individuals,
groups, applications, realms, channels or entry points, to different
services and applications.
"We continue to meet the challenge of providing increasingly
strong means of efficiently protecting corporate data and networks
so our customers can conduct critical business operations in a secure
environment," commented Mauricio Arboleda, vice president,
Information Security, SchlumbergerSema. "DeXa.Badge SAS, incorporating
I/O Software's technology, provides an extensible architecture to
deploy different biometric technologies for multi-factor authentication
in conjunction with other existing authentication schemes."
DeXa.Badge SAS builds on I/O Software's flexible SecureSuite XS
Authentication Platform technology and offers DeXa.Badge SAS clients
a broad choice of biometric technologies.
SecureSuite XS brings an advanced, modular, and flexible authentication
platform and is fully integrated with Windows Active Directory.
With its true multi-factor architecture, SecureSuite XS offers seamless
integration with any number of advanced authentication technologies,
including biometrics, USB tokens, smart cards, and combination devices.
Its modular architecture makes SecureSuite XS the most comprehensive
and flexible authentication platform available on the market today.
"This integrated solution reflects the strong demand for multi-factor
authentication in the security and ID management market," said
I/O Software's Director of Business Development, Ippei Suzuki. "The
integration of two great technologies delivers a powerful and complete
authentication framework to the IT market."
All of I/O Software's products are built on a standardized set
of interfaces, modules, and services, and leverage the most advanced
authentication technologies, including biometrics (fingerprint,
face, iris, signature, and voice recognition) Public Key Infrastructure
(PKI), USB tokens, and smart cards. For more information on I/O
