Implementation enables system access for all NPIC offices
worldwide
Wipro has successfully completed the first phase of its SAP R/3
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution implementation at the
National Petrochemical Industrialisation Company (NPIC).
This is the first deployment of SAP enterprise edition anywhere
in the Middle East. The project included NPIC’s first plant
at Jubail (Saudi Polyolefins Company) and NPIC headquarters at Riyadh.
The second phase has already started and once this is rolled out,
the system will be accessible to NPIC stakeholders across the world.
Mr. Saleh F. Al-Nazha, President and Managing Director, Saudi Polyolefins
Company, said, “This ERP project is critical to us as it integrates
all core business processes in the company. We are delighted to
have chosen Wipro as our IT Partner in this business critical project.
Their technology expertise, domain understanding and sheer commitment
to this project has helped us roll out the ERP solution across all
our offices.”
“Wipro was a clear contender for the mySAP implementation
mainly because of its strong SAP expertise and their globally proven
quality processes,” he added.
Wipro will implement the project over a period of nine months in
two phases. The first phase included financial accounting, controlling,
materials management and project system and human resources management.
In the second phase more modules, such as plant maintenance, sales
and distribution, quality management and production planning are
being covered.
Mr. Syed Mansoor Ahmed, General Manager, Business Operations, Middle
East, Wipro Infotech said, “We are very happy to be associated
with NPIC for such a complex project. We are equally proud of the
fact that NPIC is also the first company in the GCC to have implemented
the Enterprise Version of SAP. Our aim has been to integrate technology
into customers’ core businesses, and enhance the value of
their services.”
The solution was implemented on a Compaq Proliant DL580 Gen 2 production
server with two database servers and two applications servers and
was designed using an SQL database with NT Advanced Server 2000.
“Wipro’s expertise on the SAP platform and extensive
implementation experience were clearly convincing. Given our needs
as a start-up operation we were also impressed by the fact that
Wipro was an end-to-end service provider and was able to help us
plan and build the IT infrastructure and help put systems in place,”
concluded Mr. Al-Nazha.
