Posted: 2 September 2003
Weatherford International's WellServ global intervention services
group has been awarded a 4-year contract by Danish Oil and Natural
Gas Exploration and Production (DONG) for the supply of Coiled Tubing
services in the North Sea.
The contract initially involves 14 oil wells in the Nini, Cecilie,
and Siri fields, and the Amerada Hess-operated South Arne field.
WellServ will be supplying a range of equipment and services including:
coiled tubing, fluid pumping, nitrogen pumping, thru-tubing products
and services, production logging, perforation, milling, zonal isolation
and flowline equipment. Several new positions will be created at
WellServ’s facility in Esjberg to as a result of this new
business.
WellServ General Manager Dave Laing said, “The North Sea
is an important area for WellServ, and we are pleased that DONG
has recognized our experience and ability to offer a unique, fully-integrated,
multi-service package that has single-point accountability. This
will be a complex operation, extending over several years, and we
anticipate that it could be worth up to $15 million. As a result,
we are expanding our local base in Denmark to provide additional
engineers, managers and support staff.”
Lang added, “The wells on South Arne are highly deviated,
with long horizontal sections through the reservoir, to a Total
Depth of 7,500m. The Nini, Cecilie and Siri fields have similar
challenges, with the number of wells growing continuously. We will
be providing a comprehensive range of well intervention services,
including design, supply, and evaluation, to ensure DONG achieves
optimum productivity results.”
WellServ is part of Weatherford’s Drilling & Well Services
