Magic Earth releases GeoProbe 3.0
Posted: 11 September 2003
New release includes enhanced interpretation capabilities
and Sun/Solaris port
Magic Earth, Inc., an affiliate of Landmark Graphics Corporation,
and a wholly owned subsidiary of Halliburton, released GeoProbe
3.0, the latest version of its high-performance visualisation and
volume interpretation software.
The release delivers new, enhanced interpretation capabilities
along with options for remote execution and collaboration that include
patent-pending technology.
These new capabilities are designed to dramatically reduce cycle-time
and increase accuracy in E&P workflows and now for the first
time, in addition to SGI/Irix and PC/Linux, GeoProbe is also offered
on Sun/Solaris.
"Our customers have requested choice and flexibility in deploying
GeoProbe technology in order to optimise their IT investment while
exploring for oil and gas. Last year we delivered GeoProbe on PC/Linux
platform to better enable desktop access. We have now extended that
access by porting GeoProbe to Sun/Solaris while retaining its hallmark
qualities of speed, size and accuracy," said Andy Lane, president
and CEO, Landmark Graphics Corp. "Magic Earth remains the innovation
leader in volume interpretation and visualisation technology and
responsive to solving ever changing business needs in finding and
developing new petroleum reserves."
"We've enjoyed a long and productive relationship with Landmark
Graphics, and we're very pleased to add the Magic Earth visualisation
technology to the Sun platform. The GeoProbe software is a terrific
fit with our visualisation and 64-bit computing technology and together
Landmark and Sun will bring new value and innovation to the oil
and gas market," said Mark Tolliver, executive vice president
of Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Not only does this latest release extend GeoProbe's availability
to new users through additional platform choices, it also provides
capabilities for interactive remote execution, remote collaboration
and traditional interpretation methodologies.
When using GeoProbe remotely in hosted or client-server configurations,
the value of central server resources increases as they are better
utilised and easily distributed to any user's desktop. This release
also offers the option to share a single session of GeoProbe with
multiple users simultaneously, creating unique workflow, visualisation
and interpretation collaboration options.
GeoProbe 3.0 provides the added flexibility to now take advantage
of traditional interpretation techniques using the new ManuTrack
technology. This technology gives users the choice to use the best
approach for their interpretation needs whether it is guided analysis
using ezTracker or manual interpretation using ManuTrack.
