Shell to include SIS software within Global Standard Software
Portfolios
Schlumberger Information Solutions (SIS) announced today the signing
of a multi-year, multi-product software master agreement with Shell
International Exploration and Production.
Schlumberger Information Solutions will provide a set of exploration
and production (E&P) application software, which will form an
important part of the Shell Global Standard Software Portfolios.
This is a common set of software tools made available by Shell
for use by its E&P business affiliates worldwide, allowing increased
efficiency in global work and staff movement, and sharing of best
practices and lessons learned.
“SIS solutions will help Shell achieve global standardization,
especially in data management and static modeling areas,”
said Paul Ching, Shell EP Technology and Research Director. “SIS
technologies, combined with other vendor tools and our own unique
proprietary technology, will ensure that Shell’s technology
capability remains at the forefront of the industry.”
The agreement includes information management, geoscience, reservoir
simulation, well and production engineering, and economics solutions.
It also gives Shell access to the Schlumberger software development
framework, based on Microsoft .NET*, as a potential platform for
Shell’s own proprietary developments and complements the continued
commitment and use of OpenSpirit.
As part of the Shell Global Standard Software Portfolios, SIS information
management solutions will contribute to Shell’s overall information
management environment for E&P.
SIS economics and financial planning solutions enable a Living
Business Plan, allowing for secure Web-based collection of regional
investment plans, their global rollup and optimization of key business
measures.
“This agreement lays a common foundation for SIS to provide
its leading-edge software technology, including the Living Model™
open 3D model-centric seismic-to-simulation workflow, to Shell and
its E&P business affiliates worldwide,” said SIS President
Ihab Toma. “In addition, it provides the opportunity for cooperative
developments to meet Shell’s long-term technology needs.”
