Statoil
seeking cheaper interventions
Posted: 1 October 2003
A campaign has been launched by Statoil to qualify new technology
for cheaper and more efficient subsea well maintenance on the Norwegian
continental shelf (NCS).
The MSV Regalia rig operated by Prosafe is due to carry out interventions
in four underwater wells on three Statoil-operated fields during
October.
Along with FMC Kongsberg Subsea and Maritime Well Service as well
as Prosafe, the group has devoted much effort to qualifying light
intervention for various types of subsea well on the NCS.
"Success in introducing this type of technology will be highly
significant for operating costs and production life," says
Øivind Reinertsen, senior vice president for the Tampen business
cluster.
"In that way, it will help to improve the recovery factor
from subsea-completed developments on the NCS."
MSV Regalia arrived on Statfjord North in the North Sea on 27 September
for a production well workover before moving to Visund and Åsgard
in the North and Norwegian Seas respectively.
