Excellence in Energy brings Texas to Abu Dhabi

Pipeline magazine the Middle East's premier oil and gas title is to host the regions first-ever Oil Barons Ball.

The Ball will take place on the 17 December at the Hotel InterContinental in Abu Dhabi.

This glittering evening coincides with Pipeline magazine's "Excellence in Energy Awards 2003".

The Excellence in Energy Awards, now in its third successful year, has been described as the Middle East’s Oil Oscars.

The awards give recognition to the outstanding achievements of companies operating in the Middle East’s energy sector.

Awards are presented in a number of categories including: Best in Health and Safety; Project of the Year; Outstanding Achiever of the Year; Overall Excellence in Energy; and Best in Information Technology.

The winners are selected by Pipeline readers who vote for the companies and individuals they feel deserve recognition for their achievements.

Interest in this year’s event is strong and the Pipeline web site has seen a substantial increase in on-line votes.

Winners of last year’s awards were:

Best in Environment: ADNOC
Project of the Year: Dolphin Energy Project
Best in Industry Services: Halliburton
Best in IT: Oracle
Overall Excellence in Energy: Saudi Aramco

Best in Health and Safety: Total

Top dignitaries and VIPs and their guests will be at this prestigious event.

Intel Corporation is sponsoring the Excellence in Energy Awards 2003. This highlights Intel’s commitment the Middle East’s energy sector.

“The Oil Barons Ball is turning into the largest social gathering of oil professionals the UAE has ever seen,” said Pipeline’s Eileen Michael. “The evening will be packed with glamour and provide an ideal social and networking opportunity, and the chance to mingle with the oil and gas ‘barons’ of the region”.

The Ball, a black tie event, will feature black and gold to signify oil.

However, in keeping with the Dallas theme, Stetsons will be allowed.

Guests can expect fireworks at midnight, laser light shows, musical entertainment, and the chance to meet some of the personalities of the region.

Corporate tables are available for bookings of 10 and over.

This is a massive event. Tickets are selling fast and attendance is expected to be in excess of 2000.

Part of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to a local charity, making the whole evening a worthy cause.

Tickets are issued on a first come first served basis so dust off your Stetson and mosey on down to Abu Dhabi for an unforgettable event.
