ECITB Chairman Jim Rowland re-appointed

Posted: 14 October 2003

Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Young People and Adult Skills, Ivan Lewis has re-appointed Mr Jim Rowland CBE as Chairman of the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) for a period of 18 months, from1 April 2004 to 30 September 2005.

This re-appointment will enable Mr Rowland to see through the planning and implications of the outcomes of both the Government’s quinquennial review of the Board and its own review.

Skills Minister Ivan Lewis said: "I am pleased that Jim Rowland has agreed to continue his appointment as Chairman of the ECITB. His depth of knowledge and experience will be important following the Government’s latest review which has highlighted the need to focus strongly on customer needs.

“The Government wants strong partnerships with industry to boost investment in skills. Through our skills strategy a new, regionally focused structure is being implemented to support employer’s skills needs, underpinned with a planned 50 per cent growth in qualified apprentices.”
