GE Oil & Gas business unit PII in Wrapmaster alliance

PII Pipeline Solutions of Cramlington, UK, a unit of GE Oil &
Gas, has entered into a five-year exclusive agreement with Wrapmaster
Inc, based in Longview, Texas.
The agreement authorises PII to utilise, throughout Europe and
several African nations, magnetic pig
This strategic alliance between the two companies allows PII to
market the product throughout the region, and makes PII the only
pipeline integrity business capable of offering two sleeve repair
technologies.
The Wrapmaster, PermaWrap Repair System complies with the U.S.
Department of Transportation’s regulations for both gas transmission
and liquid pipelines and is available in a range of sleeve sizes
covering 4” to 56” diameter pipelines.
Countries covered by the agreement in Africa include Algeria, Angola,
Botswana, Cameroon, Chad, Gabon, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco,
Namibia, Niger, South Africa and Tunisia.
The product has been successfully used by many of the major pipelines
in the U.S. and was recently utilised by the Kenyan Pipeline Company
where PII performed the intelligent pigging. This agreement will
allow PII to exclusively market the product alongside its existing
epoxy sleeve repair solution. As a result of this alliance, PII
will be the only pipeline solutions business capable of offering
both technologies to the oil and gas market for repairs to pipelines.
Wrapmaster offers the oil and gas market a cost-effective solution
which has not been widely available before. By offering both epoxy-filled
and composite sleeve repair systems, PII is providing clients with
a flexible selection of pipeline repair/rehabilitation solutions.
Rehabilitation of pipelines is an increasingly important aspect
of business development in Africa, and the new alliance strengthens
PII’s ability to offer Total Pipeline Integrity.
