Qatar’s trusted international Bank and Skywards launch new credit card

Standard Chartered, Qatar’s first bank, has teamed up with MasterCard and Emirates to launch a prestigious co-branded Standard Chartered Skywards Credit Card, which combines enhanced travel rewards and great MasterCard features.

Bringing a new level of convenience and value, the partnership will give Qatar-based customers an enviable ability to earn while they spend.

Arif Mansoor, Chief Executive, Standard Chartered Bank Qatar noted that, as the Bank is a leading player in the credit cards business throughout the region, “launching this great credit card enables us to provide unique advantages to our customers.” Mansoor continued, “We are delighted to lead the way in Qatar through this strategic partnership with MasterCard and Emirates.”

The Standard Chartered Skywards Credit Card gives the cardholder one Skywards Mile for every four Qatari riyals spent on the card. Cardholders earn Skywards Miles every time they use their card, and whenever they fly Emirates or their partner airlines. The card also includes membership to Skywards Blue – the first tier of Emirates’ Frequent Flyer Programme.

Skywards Miles can be exchanged for free flights on Emirates or their partner airlines, upgrades, leisure activities and luxury goods.

Speaking at the grand launch of the new card, B Chandrasekhar, Regional Head of Credit Cards for Standard Chartered Bank in the Middle East and South Asia, said: “In addition to providing customers with an easy and convenient way to earn free flights and upgrades, the Standard Chartered Skywards Credit Card has a great range of many other special privileges which we look forward to sharing with our customers.”

Brian LaBelle, Skywards’ Vice President, said: “We are very pleased to join with Standard Chartered Bank to launch this co-branded credit card for our valued customers in Qatar.

“Our customers can use this card anywhere that accepts MasterCard, whether it’s shopping, eating out, or even buying petrol, and they’ll see their Skywards Miles mount up, which they can exchange for free flights and upgrades! Not only that, Skywards membership gives valuable travel benefits, including waitlist priority, which will enhance their whole travel experience.”

Standard Chartered Bank has added to the excitement with a fabulous introductory offer. Successful applicants for the Gold Card will receive 25,000 free Skywards Miles, exchangeable for a free return ticket to Delhi, Mumbai, Karachi, Beirut and many other destinations. Successful applicants for the Standard Card will receive 10,000 free Skywards Miles, which is equivalent to a free return ticket to Bahrain, Oman or the UAE. This limited period offer also includes free excess baggage and other advantages.

“This launch is a clear message of our dedication to giving our customers the very best service and products available,” said Ashok Luharuwalla, Head of Consumer Banking for Standard Chartered Bank Qatar, “Adding MasterCard increases the choices our customers have when considering their own personal financial management needs, and we are delighted to set another new standard of excellence in this market.”
