Northern Producer 50 million barrels from Galley Field
Posted: 1 December 2003
The Northern Producer, the floating production installation managed
by Petrofac Facilities Management Ltd, has recently added to its
list of proud achievements by producing its 50th million barrel
of oil from the ChevronTexaco operated Galley Field.
The 50th million barrel of oil was exported on Sunday 16th November
2003, five and a half years from first production from the Galley
field situated in Block 15/23a in the UK Continental Shelf.
The Northern Producer, managed and operated by Petrofac Facilities
Management Ltd on behalf of Sea Production Limited, is one of the
North Sea¹s success stories.
This is an outstanding milestone for the Galley field. When the
project began it was forecast to have a lifespan of approximately
4 years and was regarded as a relatively short term proposition.
The Northern Producer has achieved world-class production uptime
performance since field start up in 1998.
Andrew Ferguson, Petrofac Operations Manager said "With 50
million barrels of oil to its credit and still going strong, the
Northern Producer is a tribute to what can be done with a focused
and collaborative management team offshore and onshore. The entire
team associated with the Northern Producer can take great satisfaction
from what is being achieved on this installation."
