Global IBM DeveloperWorks event comes to Dubai in regional
first
Over 100 software, web and content developers attended the first
IBM DeveloperWorks Live! web development seminar to be held in the
Middle East.
DeveloperWorks is a global IBM technical developer event that shares
leading edge technologies, skills and resources that enable developers
to drive cutting-edge Internet based business solutions and Web
services. The event was hosted in Dubai by IBM and its partner Gulf
Business Machines (GBM).
“This is an important event for us in the Middle East as
it is the first time that we’ve been able to bring the IBM
Web Services team to engage directly with developers in our region
and we’re delighted with the strong attendance and active
participation of so many developers,” said Bashar Kilani,
software group manager for IBM Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan.
“It’s been a great event and we’ll be following
up with more developer focused events in the region as a result.”
Delegates at the all-day briefing event each received packs of
web services applications and source code as well as Linux based
software and toolkits to support the deployment of a range of advanced
Internet-based solutions, as well as comprehensive briefings on
Internet services development, security and deploying open standard
software for business on the Internet.
“IBM is investing to build awareness and capabilities in
the Middle East’s developer community so that businesses can
drive competitive advantage using online technologies. This event
is part of an ongoing drive to bring IBM’s global software
and content development expertise to the region,” said Mohammed
Kara, marketing manager, software group, IBM Middle East.
