BJ Process & Pipeline Services opens new Houston base
Posted: 12 December 2003
BJ Process and Pipeline Services has opened a new base of operations
in Houston. The base, which is located on Houston’s east side,
serves as the primary centre of operations for Houston and the southern
USA, and is the regional headquarters for the U. S., Mexico and
South America.
The new 26,000 square-foot facility is considerably larger than
the previous Houston base. It features offices that house 80 BJ
PPS staff, a custom workshop, and a sizable warehouse measuring
21,300 square-feet in which a comprehensive suite of specialist
process and pipeline equipment is maintained. Plans to expand the
warehouse an additional 10,000 square-feet in the near future are
already well underway.
“We had outgrown our former Houston premises due to the dramatic
rise in the number of operations we are carrying out in the U.S.,
Mexico and South America. By moving into the much larger facility,
it allows us to further expand our operations as needs arise, especially
considering the additional five acres that are not currently in
use,” said Martyn Bates, BJ PPS regional business unit manager
– USA, Mexico and Latin America and manager of the new Houston
base. “Not only are we better equipped to maintain our specialist
equipment more effectively in the new workshop, but having everything
under one roof has streamlined operations significantly. The new
base is also fully compliant with the latest environmental regulations,
which was a key issue necessitating this move,” he added.
All BJ PPS operations carried out in the southern U.S., Mexico
and South America are supported by personnel and equipment maintained
and serviced at the Houston base. The Houston base offers the full
range of BJ PPS services, including chemical cleaning, hydrostatic
testing, nitrogen/helium leak detection, as well as pipeline and
process plant cleaning and drying, among others.
BJ PPS has experienced significant growth in these regions during
the past few years. Recently, BJ PPS has completed a number of major
projects, including complex pre-commissioning operations on the
Gulfstream pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico, and on Ecuador’s
pipeline network, which runs from Lago Agrio to Esmereldas
Pipeline cleaning and inspection services were also carried out
on two of Mexico’s 80m LPG pipelines that run between Cactus
in Chiapas State and Coatzacoalcos.
